Recently I entered the Portrait Masters 2020 competition. The reason I enter is to challenge myself to create better and better images for you, my client. I am also working on becoming accredited, then my goal is to eventually become a Master Photographer. Here are my images that placed.

Before and After
I recently had this beauty in for a portrait session, and just couldn’t wait to share a before and after of her.
The Importance of a Print
I am a print photographer. I know that nowadays that seems to be an unpopular format for your images, but let me explain why I feel so strongly about having them in print. I was going through my moms photographs the other day and came across an image of my grandfather as a young boy and his family. Now you might be thinking, OK, what is so special about that? Well, what makes it special is that the image itself is about 111 years old. How amazing is it to have that physical record of my family. I can tell my children and grandchildren about their ancestors and actually show them a photograph. Now imagine for a moment that it was a digital image. Would the current technology today allow you to open that old digital file? I don’t believe it would. So the next time you decide to get portraits made, instead of just getting a digital file, order prints. Your family will thank you for it.
The Ravens
I recently had the privilege of putting together a concept session with Vicksburg Performing Arts Company. One of their dances is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s poem “The Raven”. When Chesley and I were talking about the dances and she told me this, my head started spinning with ideas. I put together a look for their make up and hair, and made some “gloves” for them to wear with their existing costumes. I do have to say that my sister totally saved my butt, as she did all the make up for this. Not only did she save me, she NAILED the look I was after. After about 2 hours of hair and make up we were finally ready. We traveled about 20 miles to get to the location that had the look and feel I was after. Here are some of the behind the scenes images, and some of the dance. The final images will be showcased during their spring recital at Parkside Playhouse in March. Hope you enjoy!
